call to join the Friends of the Braumart

We need your help. It’s that simple. Our community suffers from a substantial gap in the arts. Our bold vision of developing the historic Braumart Theater into a dynamic center, which embraces all arts and artists and provides cultural, educational and economic stimulus for the area and to provide a social and cultural gathering space is very simply…..a vision. We are very passionate about this vision which is why we need your help determining how to best bring this to life to serve our wonderful community.

Restoring this historic theatre is a rare chance to do something special for our community. With the support of the community, the Braumart can provide us with a central location for arts and culture showcased in a beautiful historic building. Many communities have overlooked the importance of a local theatre to downtown vitality. Considering the Braumart as an economic as well as cultural asset opens doors to new opportunities and new life for our downtown.

We are all very fortunate to enjoy the amazing quality of life that this area provides. It is a great place to raise a family and there is no comparison to the outdoor opportunities that are available to all of us. To make things even better and to round out the opportunities available to all of us, Dickinson County and the surrounding area needs an enriched cultural atmosphere that provides economic stimulus as a benefit. Many local cultural groups have expressed a need for facilities that are available, affordable and up-to-date to showcase and support local artists. Employers also report that attracting and retaining quality employees is challenging because of a significant cultural gap in the arts. A renovated historic theater will provide a venue for ongoing educational opportunities and community activities for people of all ages.

Emotional bonds – We have heard countless stories of fond memories of members of our community over the 80 plus year life of this historic theater. Among our favorite stories are those of first dates with high school sweethearts at the theater who became future husbands and wives. There are also those who remember as a kid saving up some change to catch a movie and eat some of that outrageously good theater popcorn. We can all close our eyes and smell the buttery goodness of our favorite theater delicacy.

Excitement – It is always wonderful to hear the excitement in people’s voices when they learn that this community gem is going to be restored.

One of the premier acts in Northern Wisconsin will perform on the Braumart stage on Friday, August 1!

The Friends of the Braumart Theater and the Northern Lights YMCA Dickinson Center are pleased to announce that country music group Nashville Pipeline from Green Bay will be making an appearance at the historic Braumart Theater.   The concert will take place on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Doors will open at 7:00 PM for the Social Hour. Snacks and beverages will be available, including beer and wine.

“We are thrilled about this fantastic partnership to bring such a talented country music group to the community,” said Carmie Schmoll YMCA Membership & Marketing Director.  “I love country music,” noted YMCA Vice President Katie Maxon.  “Nashville Pipeline promises to be a real treat for the community and it should be a great evening for those who enjoy live music.”

“Our goal with this partnership is to provide a fun filled night for people” stated Friends of the Braumart board member John Estes.  “We strongly support efforts to bring a year round arts and cultural calendar of events to the community.”

Nashville Pipeline is a group that has more than just a great show; there is a natural chemistry.  With their early beginning in 1997, this band has evolved to be one of the premier acts in Northeast Wisconsin.  The show is focused around good music and a good time. The energy this show gives the crowd is electrifying. Their whole attitude is to have a great time doing what they do best: entertain.
